The first time in USA Karate history, Afghanistan won the Kata Championship.
The 3rd USA Kyokushin-kan Karate Open Championships was held successfully under the supervision of Shihan Kenji Fujiwara, Chairman & Cr of Kyokushin-kan USA, on April 30, 2011. Among more than 100 tournament participants across from USA, Azadani Sensei, President of Afghanistan Kyokushin-kan Karate-do Organization, represented our beloved country, Afghanistan, in Kata Championships.
Azadani Sensei won the Kata competition by performing Sushiho Kata while the other top competitors performed Garyo Kata, Seienchin Kata, and Kanku Kata.

In early October, 2011, Afghanistan Kyokushin-kan fighters will compete in the International Kyokushin Karate Championships, held in Indonesia. It is expected that the number of countries participating in this international tournament will be over 20 countries including Russia and Japan which are considered the strongest countries in Kyokushin Karate, and that Afghanistan will strive to defend the Asian Championship title.
